RULES & REGULATIONS
General Information
To take part in INFINITAS’26, each team must be registered by its school through the official Google Form before the registration deadline.
Deadline : 30th of November 2025
Each school is allowed to register two teams (Team A & Team B), with a maximum of five (5) members per team.
After registration, all team leaders must join the official WhatsApp group, where all important updates and announcements regarding the quiz will be shared.
INFINITAS’26 is an All-Island Inter-School Science Quiz Competition organized by the Science Society of Nalanda College, Colombo. The event is designed to foster scientific thinking, teamwork, and academic excellence among Advanced Level science students island-wide.
Competition Structure – Three Phases
• Phase 1 – Online Quiz Round
All registered teams will take part in an online quiz. Performance in this round will determine qualification for the second phase.
• Phase 2 – Physical Round
The top 10 teams from Phase 1 will be selected to compete in a physical quiz round at Nalanda College, Colombo.
• Phase 3 – Final Battle Round
The top 2 teams from Phase 2 will advance to the final battle round, which will be held live during the Annual Science Day of Nalanda College.
Eligibility Criteria
– Participants must be A/L Science stream students from the 2026 or 2027 examination batches.
– Each team must have up to five (5) members.
Medium of the Quiz
The quiz will be conducted in both Sinhala and English mediums, allowing teams to choose their preferred language.
Phase 1 – Online Quiz Round

1. All participants will be assigned a unique code name prior to the quiz. Each participant must rename themselves using this code name before the quiz begins.
2. After the inauguration, teams will be placed into breakout rooms, where they will be monitored by members of the organizing committee.
3. Cameras and microphones must remain ON throughout the quiz.
4. Cameras must be positioned to clearly show both the participant’s face and hands at all times.
5. The quiz will consist of 25 multiple-choice questions, with 5 questions from each subject:
– Combined Mathematics
– Biology
– Physics
– Chemistry
– General Knowledge
6. Questions will be displayed in both Sinhala and English. Teams may respond in either language.
7. Participants may discuss answers vocally within their team using their microphones.
8. Final answers must be clearly stated verbally by one team member.
Answers must be submitted before the given time ends.
9. Late answers will not be accepted under any circumstances.
10. Participants must not use the chat option to send answers. Only verbal communication is allowed for answer submission.
11. Each question will have five (5) options, and it is mandatory to select one answer within the time limit.
12. No external assistance is allowed. Any form of cheating or rule violation will result in immediate disqualification of the entire team.
13. All breakout rooms will be recorded for review purposes if needed.
14. All recordings are strictly confidential and will not be shared.
15. Participants are fully responsible for their own internet and technical stability. The quiz will not be paused or restarted due to individual technical issues.
16. Violation of any rule may lead to disqualification of the entire team without prior notice.
Phase 2 – Quiz Round

– This round is scheduled to be held physically at Nalanda College premises.
– The top 10 teams selected based on performance in Phase 1 (Online Round) will qualify to participate in this round.
– The exact date and time of the Phase 2 round will be officially announced via the NCSS official channels after the completion of the first round.
– The quiz will consist of five (5) main rounds, covering the following subjects:
– Biology
– Combined Mathematics
– Chemistry
– Physics
– General konwledge
– Each subject round will contain 10 multiple-choice questions, totaling 50 questions for the full round.
– The quiz will be conducted in both Sinhala and English mediums, and questions will be provided as printed documents.
Phase 3 – Grand Finale
Rules & Overview – INFINITAS’26
– Only the top two (2) teams selected from the Phase 2 will qualify for the Final Round of INFINITAS’26.
– These two teams will compete face-to-face in an intense battle round to determine the champions of the competition.
– The Grand Finale will take place live during the Science Day of Nalanda College.
– All arrangements for the final competition have been made in line with the Science Day celebrations.
– The winning team and the runner-up of INFINITAS’26 will be officially announced and awarded during the Science Day ceremony.
