RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. Topic: How AI and Science Can Be Harnessed to Recover Sri Lanka from the Crisis.

1. General Guidelines

  •  The presentation must strictly focus on Sri Lanka’s current crisis (economic,environmental, social, or technological) and explain how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and scientific innovation can be applied to find sustainable solutions.
  •  Participants can present in groups of up to 5-6 members representing the science streams of their respective schools. .
  •  All data, statistics, and examples must be accurate, up to date, and from reliable sources.
  • Plagiarism or false information will result in immediate disqualification.
  •  Presenters should connect theory with practical, real world applications relevant to Sri Lanka.
  • Any number of participants from a school may participate

2. Presentation Format

  •  Duration: 8–10 minutes per presentation
  •  Presentations must be made using PowerPoint, Google Slides, or other digital tools and record a video of themselves presenting it.
  • The video must be no longer than 10 minutes and must be submitted before the deadline.
  •  Visual content (charts, infographics, short videos, etc.) is encouraged to explain how AI and science can contribute to recovery.
  • All visuals and examples should be related to Sri Lanka (local industries, agriculture, education, healthcare, governance, etc.).

3. Content Requirements

Each presentation must address the following key points:

1. Identification of current crises in Sri Lanka (economic, energy, environmental, or social).

2. How Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used to solve or reduce these problems for example:

  •  AI in agriculture to increase productivity.
  •  AI in governance for transparency and efficiency.
  •  AI in education for skill development and job creation.
  • How science and technology can drive recovery  e.g., renewable energy research, medical innovation, sustainable development.
  • Ethical, social, and environmental impacts of using AI and scientific solutions.
  • Actionable recommendations that can realistically help Sri Lanka recover and develop sustainably.

4. Conduct and Discipline.

  •  First slide must include the topic and the school name Off topic discussions or political statements unrelated to the theme are not allowed.
  •  Presenters must be punctual and ready before their allotted time.
  •  Any form of disrespect or disruption during another team’s presentation is prohibited.

5. Judging Criteria

Presentations will be evaluated on the following:

  •  Understanding of Sri Lanka’s crisis
  •  Application of AI and scientific methods
  •  Creativity and innovation of ideas
  •  Practicality and feasibility of solutions
  •  Presentation skills and clarity
  •  Use of visuals and engagement

6. Submission & Deadlines

  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • This is a single round competition. The winning team will be announced in the Science Day
